Saint Francis will host its fourth annual Band Festival on Sept. 12 at DeGol Field.
This year’s festival will include eight visiting high school bands and approximately
450 high school students, with family and friends also attending the event.
“The festival is designed to give local bands a performance venue that’s not a football game,” said SFU Band Director Jonathan Neff. “Where it’s just an audience that is there to hear them and to appreciate what they’re doing.”
The visiting high school bands will perform individually with the SFU band at the end of the festival.
Sarah Beth Mish, a Biology/Pre-Med major with a minor in Spanish, serves as the SFU band’s drum major and field commander.
“From a University standpoint, I think it is fantastic for recruitment,” said Mish.
“I’ve only heard positive feedback.”
The annual Band Festival prioritizes appreciation over competition, creating a space where band students can perform purely for the joy of music and provide one another support.
