Women’s basketball to travel across country to face Boise State
The women’s basketball team will travel to the University of Washington to face Boise State on Dec. 15.
The team will compete in the Husky Classic, a two-day tournament. The winner of the SFU-Boise State game will face the winner of the other first-round game between host Washington and Montana on Dec. 16.
The losers of the opening-round games will meet in a consolation contest on Dec. 16.
“Boise State traditionally plays teams on the West Coast, and that’s a different type of basketball than what we’re used to seeing,” said Red Flash assistant coach Megan Cunningham.
Saint Francis lost to Boise State last year in the regular season, 87-59.
“Any opportunity to play teams from other conferences and part of the country is a great opportunity to get better,” said junior guard Caitlin Carroll.
“We also have the opportunity to play Boise State again, and hopefully come out with a win this year.”
Before Christmas, the team returns to Loretto to face Morehead State on Dec. 19 and then travels to Pitt on Dec. 21.
The Northeast Conference season begins on Jan. 5 with a home game against Farleigh Dickinson.
“I think it (Husky Classic) will be a good test for us to see where we are at,” said Cunningham.
