The University will celebrate its 2024 Homecoming festivities next week and there are plenty of events on the calendar.
A “Duck Hunt” is scheduled for Monday-Friday of next week, during which students search for “astronaut ducks” around campus. Prizes for finding marked ducks include a weighted blanket, a Lego Plants set, an SFU sweatshirt, a digital camera and an Apple watch.
Spirit Day is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30. Students are encouraged to post pictures in their SFU gear on Instagram, tagging SAO. The entries will be voted on and the winner will be announced during Bingo on Friday night. The top five finishers will receive prizes, with a first-place prize of $100.
On Thursday, Oct. 31, Happy Camper Cupcakes will be served at JFK at 7 p.m. to the first 300 students who show up. Flavors include red velvet and cream cheese and cinnamon and maple.
Later on Thursday evening, Casino Night will take place from 8-10 p.m. in JFK Lounge, with chances to win a TV, a JBL speaker, Beats and more.
Friday, Nov. 1, includes a day full of activities. The Red Flash field hockey team takes on Merrimack at 4 p.m. at DeGol Field. At 5 p.m., students can participate in stuff-a-plush and mirror painting activities in JFK Lounge.
Boxcar Restaurant pierogis will be available to the first 100 students who show up at JFK at 5 p.m. on Friday. Bingo, hosted by the Environmental Action Society, will follow from 8-10 p.m. in JFK Lounge. Prizes include a Hydroflask, a TV, hammocks, headphones and more.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, an Alumni Tailgate starts at 11 a.m. in the lower JFK parking lot, followed by the Homecoming Parade at noon.
Alpha Phi Omega will sponsor a Basket Raffle on Saturday in JFK Lounge from 1-8 p.m. The football team will host Stonehill at 1 p.m., with the 2024 Homecoming King and Queen announced at halftime of the game.
Other activities on Saturday include ziplining on the Campus Mall and a hypnotist show from 8-10 p.m. in JFK Auditorium.
