Saint Francis celebrated the grand opening of “Mary’s Mantle” on Oct. 14.
The space merges Mary’s Cupboard and the Interview Closet, which previously resided in different spaces around campus.
Mary’s Mantle includes a food pantry for SFU students experiencing food insecurity and a professional clothing closet that provides interview apparel for internships, job interviews, networking events and other professional opportunities.
“We highly recommend professional dress for interviews, but a lot of students might not have a suit, or don’t have the funds to purchase one,” said Beth McGregor, Director of Career Services.
Mary’s Mantle is located near Campus Ministry and occupies part of the former mailroom.
“The interview closet used to be located in Ave Maria,” said SGA President Cole Weiland. “It used to be a lot harder to access.
“Now it’s open 24-7 and that makes it easier for students to utilize.”
Mary’s Mantle is funded on donations from various groups and individuals.
“We’ve gotten a lot of donations from alumni, as well as a teachers organization based out of Altoona, who contacted us because they saw the space on Facebook,” said McGregor.
“People have been really great in providing donations, but we’re always looking for more to help.”
