SFU’s Card Club has only existed for two semesters but already has 30 members.
The club was created to provide a space for students who share a love of playing card games.
“I have a passion for playing cards with friends and family, and I thought that it’d be a pretty cool opportunity to share that passion,” said Dominick Crider, a Zoo and Aquatics major. Crider founded the club and serves as its president.
Club members gather to play a mix of different games, including poker, Exploding Kittens, Pokémon and Magic.
Criminal Justice major Stella Stoltz serves as vice president of the club.
“It’s a very chill, laid-back environment,” said Stoltz. “It’s basically just a bunch of people getting together, playing card games.”
Future goals of the club are to increase campus visibility through poker tournaments and fundraising activities.
The club’s faculty advisor is Art Remillard, Dean of the School of STEAM.
