Students, Faculty, Staff Gather for 10th Annual March on the Mountain
Members of the University community gathered on a cold, wintery day for the 10th annual March on the Mountain on Jan. 23.
Students, faculty and staff, as well as residents of the area, marched on the campus mall to advocate and support the pro-life message.
The march has taken place on campus each January for the last 10 years. It is held in conjunction with the national March-for-Life rally, which was conducted in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20.
The 2023 march at SFU and in the nation’s capital were the first since the overturning last year of Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 case that legalized abortion nationwide.
Participants at the march in Loretto held signs, locked arms, and marched together around the mall.
All participants endured the windy, snowy weather with bright smiles on their faces.
Different signs and posters included phrases such as “Students for Life @ Saint Francis University: A Voice for the Voiceless”; “It’s a Child, not a Choice”; and “Life is Worth Fighting for.”
Before the march began, some of the participants gathered and prayed the rosary in front of the chapel.
