The Red Flash men’s basketball team opened the 2025-26 season at Oklahoma on Nov. 3, dropping a 102-66 decision to the Sooners.
SFU made the game interesting for 20 minutes. The Red Flash trailed OU by just one (45-44) at halftime.
The Sooners dominated inside against the smaller Red Flash, outscoring SFU in the paint, 54-36.
Saint Francis grabbed the lead early in the second half, but it was short-lived as Oklahoma went on a 32-3 run to grab momentum on its way to the 36-point victory.
The Red Flash shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half (20-40), compared to 26.9 percent (7-for-26) in the game’s final 20 minutes.
UTSA transfer Skylar Wicks scored a game-high 20 points in his SFU debut. Niagara transfer Zion Russell added a career-high 15 points.
It was the first game for SFU’s Luke McConnell as head coach of the Red Flash.
Second-year SFU starter Chris Moncrief had seven points and freshman Brandon Russell had six points for SFU.
Oklahoma had five players in double figures. Kuol Atak paced the Sooners with 18.
The Red Flash return to action against TCU on Nov. 6. The teams will play at 8 p.m. on TNT.
