Saint Francis head track and field coach Doug Hoover recently announced that Chris Frederick has been hired as an assistant coach with the program.
Frederick competed as a sprinter at SFU from 2017-21. He is the school record-holder in the 200-meter dash indoors and outdoors and holds nine top-10 marks on the SFU all-time performance list.
For the last two years, Fredrick served as an assistant track and field coach at Seton Hill University in Greensburg.
He said he is excited to return to Saint Francis, where he will work with the men’s and women’s sprinters and hurdlers.
“The chemistry I have with the coaches and upperclassmen is the reason why I came back here,” said Frederick.
Junior sprinter Bryce Baker said it is different being coached by a former teammate.
“It felt kind of weird at first,” said the Harrisburg native. “But as days went by, I gradually took his coaching and put it into perspective that he’s not a student here anymore.
