The women’s tennis has advanced to the NCAA Division I Tournament and will face Virginia in its first-ever NCAA Tournament match-up on Saturday, May 2, in Charlottesville, Virginia. The match begins at 2 p.m.
The winner between SFU and Virginia will advance to the regional semifinals to face the winner of a match between Liberty and Washington.
Saint Francis won the NEC women’s tennis championship for the first time on April 18, securing its place in the NCAA Tournament field. In the conference tournament, the No. 2-seeded Red Flash defeated Chicago State, Le Moyne and top-seed FDU, not conceding a point to any opponent. Following the championship match, senior Kelly Dowuona, freshman Helena Lynn and junior Reagen Mangan were named to the NEC All-Tournament Team.
SFU enters its match at Virginia with a 16-8 record. The Cavaliers advanced to the NCAA Tournament after receiving an at-large bid. UVA finished second in the ACC.
