Blue Stockings Society hosts Women’s March on mall

The SFU Blue Stockings Society held their second annual Women’s March around the mall on March 19.

The Blue Stockings Society is a group that meets bi-weekly to exchange ideas and discuss national and international issues in today’s society, as well campus topics.

“Seeing everyone come out for our march really meant a lot to the club,” said Sara Snyder, the Blue Stockings social media chair.

“We appreciate every person who marched and chanted with us for women’s rights.”

Before the march, Snyder discussed some of her research on violence that targets women.

“The presentation will hopefully lead the crowd to learn something new and have a better understanding for those affected by violence,” said Sydney Missouri, Blue Stockings Society president.

“Overall, I hope the big takeaway from this event is that nothing can stop an empowered woman.

“I hope it illustrates the importance of women’s rights.”

Missouri has been a member of the Blue Stockings Society since arriving at SFU.

“I am very thankful for the team that supports me,” she said.
