Delta Phi Epsilon will hold its popular Deepher Dude event on Oct. 22 in JFK Auditorium.

One of Delta Phi Epsilon’s major philanthropy events, all proceeds from Deepher Dude go to the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

In the past, the sorority selected a group of around 10 male students and auctioned them off as dates to the highest bidders.

This year, however, the organization has decided to change the format of the event. It will auction off dates rather than the young men themselves, and allow individuals to bid on things like “date-night” baskets.

Dates with a few of the sorority’s sisters will also be up for grabs. Those interested in landing dates with members of the sorority can purchase raffle tickets during the two weeks leading up to the event.

Other chapters of the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority across the country conduct similar auction events.

“It is always cool to see how different chapters run the event and the themes,” said sophomore Ana Medina.

Audience members at the event will have an opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win an evening with the participants.

Contestants will take part in a speed round of questions and then select the winning raffle tickets.

In previous years, Delta Phi Epsilon has managed to raise more than $1,200 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The money raised goes to researching for a cure to cystic fibrosis, as well as to families struggling with the disease.

“We get a chance to meet some of the families – their stories are always so inspiring,” said sophomore physician assistant major Sara Kelley.

Raffle tickets are currently on sale in Padua Hall.
