The Shields School of Business hosted its annual Business Day on April 5. More than 150 students from 11 area high schools participated in the day-long event.
The event began with a panel discussion with current SFU business students and a complimentary breakfast.
Following the panel, the visiting students participated in interactive business-related activities, including competitions, games and instructional sessions.
“This is the second Business Day I have been to,” said a student from Forest Hills High School. “I like meeting the other students and winning all the freebies.”
Assistant Professor of Marketing Kim Flanders led the planning and organizing effort for the event.
“Overall, I would consider the event successful,” said Flanders.
“The students attending seemed to enjoy themselves while participating in the various activities.”
Flanders enlisted the help of students in SFU’s American Marketing Association (AMA) Chapter to coordinate the event.
“They were an integral part of executing the event and having it run seamlessly,” said Flanders.
“We had nearly every active member participate and over 20 students in total volunteered.”
Students from Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic won first place in the 2024 Business Bowl. Bellwood-Antis came in runner-up in the competition.
High schools that participated in last week’s Business Day include: Bishop Carroll Catholic, Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic, Bellwood-Antis, Central, Conemaugh Valley, Forest Hills, Penns Manor, Portage, Rockwood, Shade-Central City and Shanksville-Stonycreek.
