Saint Francis will welcome back graduates from various majors during Mentorship Week, Oct. 19-27. There is a full list of events planned across all three schools at the University.
Mentorship Week officially kicked off with “Celebrate Chemistry Day” on Thursday, Oct. 19. Students had the opportunity to network with multiple SFU Chemistry graduates and attend presentations throughout the day.
Various departments across campus are sponsoring their own events, such as the Nursing Alumni Panel scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 11:30 a.m. in Sullivan 202.
“Mentorship Week strives to foster mentorship within the Saint Francis University community by connecting current students to alumni and other professionals for career advice, guidance and support,” said Beth McGregor, Director of Career Services.
“Students can obtain advice on potential careers and career paths from successful alumni actively engaged in the industry.”
The Shields School of Business will hold its sixth annual “Mentorship Day” on Friday, Oct. 27.
“The day provides students the opportunity to connect with alumni-mentors, for professional advice, networking, and mentorship through a myriad of sessions,” said SSOB Associate Dean John Miko, who led the School’s efforts to organize the annual event.
Nearly 70 alumni mentors are expected to return to campus for the one-day SSOB event, which includes 20 different panel sessions, as well as one-on-one sessions for students with specific alumni.
The alumni panel sessions will be held throughout Schwab Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 27. The one-on-one sessions will follow during the afternoon.
All classes in the Shields School of Business will be canceled next Friday to afford students the opportunity to attend as many of the panel sessions as possible.
