Following a strong Homecoming Game performance in a 17-14 loss to Saint Vincent on Oct. 17, SFU football fans were hoping that last Saturday’s home game would be another competitive match-up.
It wasn’t, however, as Bethany pounded the Red Wolves, 51-7, in front of 1,463 fans.
Bethany scored on the game’s first drive, catching the SFU defense off guard on a long touchdown pass.
That Bison score was followed by the first mistake of a mistake-filled game for SFU. Kick returner Kamar Goodhall muffed the kickoff and gave it back to Bethany deep in Red Wolves territory.
By halftime, the Bison led 20-0.
SFU’s lone score in the game came in the fourth quarter when quarterback Ashton Walk connected with receiver Cole DeLattre on a 50-yard touchdown strike. Walk finished the game 8-for-16 for 100 yards, with one TD and two interceptions. DeLattre made a team-high four catches for 78 yards and the score. It was the freshman wideout’s third touchdown of the season.
Freshman Eli Woomer had two catches for 45 yards and fifth-year senior Scott Raymond made two catches for 15 yards.
Bethany outgained the Red Wolves in total offense, 465-196, and held a 281-41 advantage in rushing yards.
Collin Glassmyer and Grayden Lewis each made 15 tackles for SFU.
The Red Wolves (0-6) have two games remaining. They play at Washington and Jefferson this Saturday before hosting Geneva on Nov. 14. Both games kick-off at 1 p.m.
