Transitioning to competition at the collegiate level is difficult for many student-athletes, but for SFU freshman soccer player Reagan Truxillo, the process appeared seamless this fall.
The Charlottle native played an important role on the Red Wolves squad in 2026. She finished as the team’s leader in goals (eight) and ranked second in points (19).
The women’s soccer team finished the season on a six-game winning streak following a 4-2 victory at Franciscan on Oct. 28. Head coach Brian Diaz’s team posted a 9-5-1 final record and an 8-4 mark in PAC action.
“The support from the team has definitely been the biggest contributor to my goals this season,” Truxillo said. “Without their constant support and enthusiasm, I never would’ve had the confidence to play as freely as I do.”
The first-year forward’s infectious energy and relentless work ethic were as important to her team on the pitch this fall as were her goal-scoring skills.
Truxillo arrived at SFU after a decorated high school career at Charlotte Catholic High School. She helped lead Charlotte Catholic to a Class 6A state title a year ago. Her club team also enjoyed success, winning the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Region Championship.
The Nursing major said entered her first season at SFU with some uncertainty.
“I was scared to be on the team as a freshman, but all the encouragement from my teammates helped me overcome that and play to my full potential,” she said.
Diaz said Truxillo’s contributions extend far beyond the score sheet.
“Besides being a great soccer talent, Reagan brings an energy and work rate to every session,” he said. “She is very coachable and truly wants to help the team succeed.”
Truxillo’s best game of the season came at Bethany on Oct. 21 when she recorded two goals and two assists in a 6-0 SFU win over the Bison.
The talented forward’s positive energy is also something that played a key role in helping the team bounce back from a winless season a year ago.
“I bring a lot of fun and laughter onto the team,” Truxillo said. “Soccer is just a game, so why not enjoy it and make it fun?”
