The Red Wolves men’s and women’s swim teams will host two meets this weekend at the Stokes Natatorium.
On Friday, SFU welcomes Millersville to Loretto for a meet that begins at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the team opens the PAC schedule against Westminster. The meet against the Titans starts at 1 p.m.
Head coach Phil Hurley is in his eighth season at SFU. The Carlisle, Pennsylvania, native has been coaching swimming for 26 years.
His SFU teams were successful in the Northeast Conference before entering the PAC this year. SFU finished in the top four in the NEC each of the last four years.
Hurley emphasized that the team has individual goals, but also team goals entering 2026-27.
“I sat down with all the athletes individually at the beginning of the year and we talked about individual goals,” Hurley said. “For some of them, that might be certain times or certain placements they want to achieve.”
Hurley said one of the team’s collective goals is being successful in its dual meets in the PAC.
The coach said he is very excited during this transition period as SFU moves from Division I to Division III. This is also the first season in school history that the University will sponsor a men’s swimming team.
There are currently just three men’s swimmers on SFU’s roster, but Hurley is looking forward to building the men’s program.
Lindsay Willis is a sophomore transfer on the women’s team. She arrived at SFU from Ursinus College, where she competed for one season.
Willis said that her new team has been very welcoming and that the group has good chemistry.
“They are a great group of girls,” said the Pikesville, Maryland native. “I feel like I can go to them for anything.”
The two meets this weekend will promote breast cancer awareness and mental health awareness.
