Access to snow shovels, new courses and rumors of police billings were all discussed at the SGA meeting on Feb. 12.
A rumor had spread across campus recently regarding Campus Police charging to unlock a student’s door if they were locked out after hours. Senators dismissed these rumors and assured those in attendance that Campus Police does not charge for any of their services.
Senator Abrielle Brown pitched the idea of public-use snow shovels provided by the University. Many students do not possess a snow shovel on campus, and Brown argued that there should be an easier way to dig yourself out after a storm, rather than calling Campus Police.
“Shovels could be placed at the JFK front desk and in Christian Hall, so both sides of campus are covered,” said Brown.
Talks of a sign-out system were discussed to prevent theft. Ideas included filling out some kind of form, or some kind of closet with swipe access.
Senator Reace Myers proposed sending the topic to the University’s general counsel, as it could be a liability issue. The topic will be discussed further at a future SGA meeting.
A new junior capstone math course was added and will be available to take next semester.
The next SGA Town Hall will take place on March 23.
