The men’s basketball team lost at home to Central Connecticut State, 98-90, on Jan. 17 in NEC action.
Senior Ahmad Harrison led SFU with 17 points and a career-high seven assists. He made seven of 14 shots from the floor.
Three Saint Francis (4-14, 2-3 NEC) players scored 14 points in the game (Gestin Liberis, Skylar Wicks, and Zion Russell). Victor Payne added 12, knocking down four three-pointers.
Darin Smith Jr. – the NEC’s leading scorer – led the Blue Devils (10-6, 4-1 NEC) with 34 points and nine rebounds.
SFU outrebounded the Blue Devils, 37-27. Liberis grabbed nine boards for the Flash. The two teams were even in points in the paint with 24 each. CCSU shot 60 percent from the floor (30-for-50), compared to 46 percent field goal shooting (31-for-67) for SFU.
“I can’t knock the effort,” said Red Flash head coach Luke McConnell. “Just have to credit CCSU for making a couple more plays to come out with the victory.”
Saint Francis will look to bounce back against Stonehill on Jan. 19. The game tips off at noon and will be streamed on NEC FrontRow.
