Many students and faculty at Saint Francis celebrated National Read-Across-America Day earlier this month by reading their favorite books.
Read-Across-America Day is celebrated on March 2 because it is Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The event was created by the National Education Association to encourage Americans to discover – or rediscover – the joy found in reading.
“Reading transports me to a different place,” said sophomore Caleb Hunt, who serves as vice president of the SFU Literary Club.
“After reading something, I feel like a different person.”
English Instructor Sydney Beunier-Lucas likes to read books on a variety of different topics.
“I can’t sit here and say I read only one genre,” said Lucas. “I read a lot of books.”
Hunt also like to read and learn about different subjects.
“In a world with so many books, it is unfair to only pick one,” said Hunt.
