Members of SFU’s Respect Life Club attended Pennsylvania’s March for Life on Sept. 22 in Harrisburg. More than 5,000 people attended the rally.
The first Pennsylvania March for Life was held in 2021, a year before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The purpose of the annual event is to promote an end to abortion and for attendees to serve as a voice for the unborn.
While the repeal of Roe v. Wade in June of 2022 restricted abortion access in many parts of the United States, the procedure is still available in Pennsylvania up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.
The March for Life began with a Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by a rally at the steps of the Capitol building. The rally included a choir and several notable speakers, including Ryan Bomberger, Jennie Bradley Lichter and the Most Reverend Nelson Pérez.
Charlie Kirk was honored at the event. A staunch pro-life advocate, Kirk was shot and killed at a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10.
Delaney Urban is the president of SFU’s Respect Life Club and attended the event last month.
“I attended the PA March for Life last year with a few other members from the club, but this year seemed to mean more,” said Urban. “The energy was just unmatched.
“Since Charlie Kirk’s assassination, people have been looking for a purpose. Going to Mass before the march really set the tone for the day and (reminded us) that what we’re doing is important.
“Every life is sacred, made in the image of God, and should be held to that honor even before birth.”
Members of SFU’s Respect Life Club are making plans to attend the Washington, D.C. March for Life on Jan. 23, 2026.
