Sophomore Communications major Jalen (JalentheKid) Harriet has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 ECAC Playoffs. A member of the Madden Gray roster, Harriet defeated Muskingum’s xKLaww, 2-0, on April 3 to claim his spot in the “Elite Eight” of the playoff bracket.
The Charlotte, North Carolina native went 5-2 in the regular season with his only losses coming against Potomac State and Southeastern.
“I think what has helped me [this season] is my teammates pushing me, as well as my brother, EJ, and my dad. They have pushed me to be better on a game-by-game basis,” said Harriet.
“I’ve really been putting the time into practice.”
Harriet got into Madden at an early age, following in the footsteps of his brother and father. He played in his first tournament, which was sponsored by the Carolina Panthers, when he was 15.
“That’s when SFU Esports found me and recruited me,” said Harriet.
In addition to majoring in Communications, Harriet is also pursuing a minor in Sports Management. He hopes to work in the Esports field in his future career.
“I think it’s possible with how Esports is growing.”
Harriet has written for the Troubadour and has also served as a sideline reporter with the Red Flash football team.
His ECAC quarterfinal game is on April 10 at 8 p.m. against Southeastern.
