The Troubadour, Saint Francis University’s student news outlet, has announced the promotion of two of its staff writers to leadership positions at the publication.
Madison Perry, a junior Communications major, has been appointed editor of the Troubadour and senior COMM major Lindsey Slebodnik has been promoted to Associate Editor at the campus news outlet.
“Maddy is a talented writer and a poised leader with a creative streak and strong work ethic,” said Professor of Communications Pat Farabaugh, who serves as faculty advisor of the Troubadour.
“She brings a broad skill set to our editor position and we are fortunate to have her stepping into this leadership role.”
Perry previously served as a news writer on the Troubadour staff. She has been active in various initiatives since enrolling at Saint Francis in 2021. A member of the Communications Club, she has also played an active role in Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity.
Perry has served as recruitment chair, secretary and inner-fraternity council representative of SFU’s branch of this organization and she will serve as its president in the 2023-24 academic year.
Within the Shields School of Business, Perry serves on an advisory board that provides input to the dean on student-related matters.
Slebodnik assumes the role of Associate Editor at the Troubadour and will oversee the news outlet’s social media footprint. Like Perry, she previously served as a writer for the publication.
“In addition to her journalism skills, Lindsey possesses exceptional talent in layout and graphic design, talent that will help us expand the Troubadour’s reach across social media platforms,” said Farabaugh.
“She is a high-energy person and this enthusiasm has served her well as a student at SFU and on our Troubadour team.”
Like Perry, Slebodnik is a member of the University’s Communications Club and serves on the Student Advisory Board within the Shields School of Business. The Communications major and Marketing minor has volunteered her time within the Communications Program and the SSOB at various student-recruitment events and she possesses a broad skill set across various Adobe software programs.
