The men’s basketball team has dropped five of its last six games following a 93-74 setback at FDU last weekend. The team plays two away games this week at Merrimack (Feb. 22) and Stonehill (Feb. 24).
Five players scored in double figures in the loss at FDU. Freshman center Eli Wilborn led the team in points (18), rebounds (13) and assists (4) in the setback.
Wilborn leads the team with 15 double-figure scoring games. He has posted nine double-figure rebound performances and collected eight double-doubles.
“The way I maintain my performance level is to keep taking care of my body, getting my rest, eating the right foods, and just doing the best I can to give my team the best ‘me’ every night,” said the freshman from Middletown, Connecticut.
Wilborn is tied for first in the NEC in rebounding (7.6 rpg.) and ranks 21st in scoring (10.5 ppg), third in blocked shots (1.69 bpg) and fourth in field goal percentage (52.3).
The players are trying to maintain a steady approach as the team enters the home stretch of the 2023-24 season.
“I stay mentally resilient through times like this,” said sophomore Wisler Sanon. “Coach Krimmel says ‘never too high, never too low.’
“This means staying even-keeled when times are tough.”
Sanon said there has been no lack of effort on the part of his team.
“I am proud of how hard we battle and how we continue to fight throughout the year.”
