Saint Francis University Athletics hosted the third annual Mr. SFU Pageant which benefits the Zack Hinish Foundation.

The Zack Hinish Foundation is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children, especially children who are dealing with physical or cognitive disabilities.

Mr. SFU is a competition between athletes from each male athletic team at Saint Francis University. The pageant measures school spirit and character; it is not based on athletic ability or GPA.

The pageant consisted of eight males, each from a different sports team: Greg Ferguson (golf), Seth Worthing (track), Greg Brown (basketball), Matt Valenzuela (football), Jay Pillot (band), Anthony Lozupone (soccer), Plamen Avuski (tennis) and Lucas Behringer (volleyball).

Anthony Lozupone was crowned Mr. SFU for 2014. Lozupone walk out song was Shania Twain’s “Man I Feel l Feel Like a Woman,” and was escorted by Omega Zeta Nu sisters Amanda Johnson and Kasey Nolan.

“My favorite part about being a Mr. SFU candidate was stepping out of my comfort zone to help raise money for the Zack Hinish Foundation,” said Lozupone.

Lozupone, who came out in a speedo in the swimwear competition, said he wasn’t nervous because he was wearing a speedo, but was nervous because he was in front of so many people.

“I wear a speedo in the summer for swimming and diving, and it’s not a problem,” said Lozupone. “The problem was it wasn’t the summer.”

Lozupone gives credit to all of the other candidates for Mr. SFU.

“All of the guys in the competition are great guys and represented their team very well,” said Lozupone.

Lozupone enjoys giving back to others and was glad to help raise money for the Zack Hinish Foundation.

“Mr. SFU is one of the best experiences of my life. Not because I won, but because I was able to raise money for the Zack Hinish Foundation,” said Lozupone. “I will remember this event and experience for the rest of my life.”

The event took place Wednesday April 9, 2014, in DeGol Arena. CES Credit was available for those who attended.
