The Shield School of Business (SSOB) hosted its Academic Research Poster Session on April 23.
Assistant Professor of Marketing Kim Flanders led the efforts to organize the event.
Flanders works with and encourages students across the SSOB to participate in this event every year.
“No matter what class you’ve done, as long as you have the research, you can turn it into an academic poster and present,” said Flanders.
“I encourage everyone to try it out and if they are afraid to, at least come and see what their peers are doing to get inspiration.”
Patricia Cabrera, a junior Marketing major with a Digital Media Concentration, presented at the event. She and the members of her team explored some of the practices at the company Patagonia.
“We put a lot of work into our research,” said Cabrera.
Marketing major Lucia Cicalese also presented at the event. Her group completed a case study on Disney in Australia.
“When you start looking into things you like and already know about, you learn a lot of surprising things you didn’t know,” said Cicalese.
Cicalese also gave advice for underclassmen for presenting at future poster events.
“Choose a topic you are passionate about because you will be talking about it a million times. If you don’t love it, it won’t be as much fun.”
