The Red Flash lost to Wagner, 65-56, on Feb. 21 on Senior Day at the Stokes Center.
More than 1,000 fans were on hand at DeGol Arena for Senior Day festivities. Before the game, the team’s seven seniors – Chris Moncrief, K.J. Swain Jr., Gestin Liberis, Ahmad Harrison, Cam Tweety, Zion Russell and Skylar Wicks – were recognized for their contributions to the program.
The game marked the final home Division I game for the Red Flash men’s basketball program. SFU’s athletics teams will begin competing at the Division III level in 2026-27.
Going into halftime, the score was tied 31-31. The Seahawks (11-16, 6-10 NEC) went on an 8-1 run to start the second half to take a lead that they wouldn’t surrender.
Zion Russell led SFU with 21 points. It marked his third 20-point game for the Flash this season. Russell went 7-for-12 from the floor, 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
Skylar Wicks – the NEC’s second-leading scorer – was held to eight points. Wicks, who had averaged 29.0 ppg over his team’s previous two games, finished the game against Wagner 0-for-9 from three-point range.

SFU got 29 points off its bench, but was outrebounded by Wagner, 39-34.
Travis Grey led the Seahawks with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Wagner shot 78 percent (18-for-23) from the free throw line, while Saint Francis shot 47 percent (8-for-17).
With the loss and Chicago State’s win over Central Connecticut, the Red Flash (6-22, 4-11 NEC) will have to win two of their final three regular-season games to qualify for the NEC’s postseason tournament.
SFU opens a three-game road trip at New Haven on Feb. 24. The game is at 6 p.m. and will be steamed on NEC FrontRow.
