The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the NEC Indoor Championships on Feb 15-16.
The Red Flash women’s team finished fourth in a 10-team field with 71.5 points. The SFU men placed eighth in a 10-team field with 32 points.
Between both teams, SFU had 24 finishes in the top eight. Sophomore Olivia Renk made two podium appearances. Renk finished in second place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.70 and placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 24:86.
Freshman Karsyn Ford took second place in the pole vault, clearing 3.45 meters. Junior Gabriella del Pielago set a new personal best in the 400-meter finals, posting a time of 57.91 and capturing third place.
On the men’s side, Altoona native Dylan Andrews placed second in the pole vault by clearing 4.60 meters. Clark Gulycz finished in second place in shot put with a throw of 17.57 meters.
Overall, SFU had seven podium finishes.
Central Connecticut State won both the men’s and women’s team titles. Stonehill finished second in the men’s and women’s fields.
The Red Flash track and field teams will move outdoors for the remainder of the semester. The outdoor season starts March 20-21 at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina.
