Many expected Saint Francis junior softball player Savannah Nash to enjoy a strong 2025 season after a breakthrough 2024 campaign, and thus far the Red Flash outfielder has not disappointed.
Through 25 games, she leads SFU in batting average (.400), hits (34), doubles (7), home runs (4) RBI, (20), total bases (55), slugging percentage (.647), on-base percentage (.452) and stolen bases (8). Many of these statistics lead or rank among the top three in the Northeast Conference.
Nash has also shined defensively this year and made a spectacular diving catch against South Carolina in February.
The Red Flash enter this weekend’s home action against LeMoyne with a 10-15 overall record and a 3-0 mark in the NEC.
“At the end of the day, this sport doesn’t define who I am, it’s just what I do,” said the Mechanicsville, Virginia native. “Keeping that in mind has really helped me this year.
“But most of all, knowing that my team is always there to support me, whether it’s on or off the field, has been very important.”
Nash has already captured NEC Player-of-the-Week honors three times in 2025.
In addition to excelling on the softball diamond, Nash has also enjoyed success in the classroom as a Criminal Justice major.
“One thing that helps me is to always to finish my work before the weekend,” said Nash. “That way, when the games are coming up, I can focus 100 percent on them, without stressing over homework or exams.”
Nash has also emerged as a leader for head coach Beth Krysiak’s team in addition to excelling on the field and in the classroom.
“Savannah has really taken a leadership role this year,” said her teammate, Olivia Ulam. “She shines in the decisive moments and knows how to respond when the team needs her.”
Another of Nash’s teammates, Annabelle Farmer, highlighted the junior’s commitment and drive.
“What makes Savannah a great teammate is her determination,” said Farmer. “She always gives her best, whether in the field or in her faith. She is a true inspiration.
“Every team would love to have a player like her.”
Nash cites her strong faith as being important to her success.
“I pray before every game,” said Nash. “It helps me get into the right mindset and allows me to calm down any nerves or overthinking that happens before the game starts.”
The Flash will look to bounce back this weekend against LeMoyne after dropping two games at Robert Morris on March 18. SFU will host a doubleheader against the Dolphins on Friday and the two teams will play a single game in Loretto on Sunday.
Friday’s twinbill begins at 1 p.m.
