SAAC Promotes Mental Health and Wellness During Mental Health Week
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) celebrated Mental Health Week in March with multiple events.
Each semester, SAAC hosts a mental health week in order to provide student with opportunities to de-stress as they encounter some of the busiest parts of the academic year.
Events conducted throughout the week included watching a game of basketball (while enjoying a bag of popcorn), tie-dying socks, and watching “Friends” while drinking tea.
The highlight of the week, according to Shannon Corbett, Associate Director of Student-Athlete Development and Academic Services, was the Dance-Off.
“I think that the Dance-Off was everyone’s favorite,” said Corbett. “Teams compete for Frankie Cup points during this late-night event. We had 11 teams compete this year and everyone always has a great laugh.”
The men’s soccer team was the winner of this year’s Dance-Off.
“Mental health impacts every part of your life. Having good mental health will help everyone be their best selves,” said Corbett. “I hope that our athletes know just how much we care about the well-being of their minds, bodies and souls.”
