Associate Professor of Biology Gail Drus and the Rev. Matthew Simons, T.OR., have established a partnership between Saint Francis and the Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

They are working on multiple projects around the grounds of Mt. Assisi.

On Oct. 6, students in Drus’ Advanced Botany course and members of the Province teamed up to propagate a special tree species in order to preserve it for future generations. The species of the tree is close to 200 years old.

The Botany Club is also participating in a clean-up project that will help keep the Schwab Gardens looking pristine. This is one of the several environmental endeavors the Botany Club will be a part of in hopes of keeping the plant life at the Gardens healthy and beautiful.
