More than 500 high school students from 30 area schools took part in SFU’s 24th Annual Science Day on November 21, 2017.

Science Day allows children to expand their minds and to consider future career opportunities in science, technology and engineering. The visiting students could chose from 37 presentations by 67 SFU faculty and students and engaged in various hands-on experiences.

Sixteen of the high schools also participated in a “Science Bowl,” with SFU students running the competition. Richland High School won the championship.

Prizes were awarded to high school students for the best science photos and most popular photos posted on Instagram with #BecomeThatScientist.

The purpose of Science Day at Saint Francis University is not to win a competition but to enhance students’ minds and let innovators put their thoughts on display. Young students need guidance and options that Science Day offers them, along with the ability to express themselves and create new interests.
