Red Flash head women’s basketball coach Keila Whittington has added several new members to her team’s coaching staff.

Rachelle Hopsicker and Shawnice Wilson join the program as assistant coaches and Natalie Knab, who served as a graduate assistant coach last season, will assume the role of Director of Basketball Operations. DeAngela Mathis also joins the staff as a graduate assistant coach.

Hopsicker arrives in Loretto after coaching the girls basketball team at Juniata Valley School District in Alexandria, Pennsylvania, for the last nine years.

Wilson is a native Pittsburgh and attended Westinghouse High School, the alma mater of Red Flash legend Maurice Stokes. During her high school career, she earned two City League Player-of-the-Year awards, four All-City League awards, and was a second-team All-State honoree.

Knab is a native of Altoona and a 2019 graduate of Chatham University where she played four seasons, serving as team captain of the Cougars during her junior and senior years.

Mathis previously served as Director of Basketball Operations at Stetson University and was also an assistant coach at Wabash Valley Junior College in Illinois.

“The new staff are all amazing people – they’re full of positive energy,” said sophomore guard Halie Murphy.

Redshirt junior guard Lili Benzel agrees.

“The new additions to the staff have done a great job so far, getting us ready for the season,” said Benzel.
