The men’s basketball team lost at Stonehill, 103-77, on Feb. 27 in the second of a three-game road trip to close the regular season.
Skylar Wicks led SFU with 22 points. Wicks has now scored in double digits in 12 of the last 13 games.
Gestin Liberis had another strong game with 15 points and six rebounds. Liberis made seven of his 10 shots from the field. Zion Russell added 13 points and four rebounds against the Skyhawks, going 3-for-4 from behind the arc.
Davante Hackett led Stonehill with 40 points. Hackett drained eight three pointers. Chas Stinson posted a double-double (16 points/10 rebounds).
The Skyhawks (11-19, 8-9 NEC) outrebounded the Red Flash (7-23, 5-12 NEC), 40-32, and scored 17 second-chance points. The Stonehill bench outscored SFU’s bench, 29-16, and the Skyhawks scored 20 fast-break points in the game, compared to just two for SFU.
The Red Flash shot 50 percent (11-for-22) from the free throw line.
Saint Francis is still looking to punch its ticket to the NEC postseason. The team’s final regular-season game is at Central Connecticut State on Feb. 28. The Flash must win this game to qualify for the NEC postseason.
