Sophomore Jelana Boldizar has been named Editor-in-Chief of the Troubadour. She succeeds Madison Perry, who served as the news outlet’s editor for two academic years (2023-25) before her graduation in May of 2025.
A double-major in Communications and Spanish, Boldizar previously served as a staff writer at the publication.
“Jelana possesses a varied skill set that will serve her well as our editor,” said Professor of Communications Pat Farabaugh, who serves as faculty advisor of the Troubadour.
“She is a great listener, which makes her an effective interviewer. She has also developed excellent time-management skills and works well under deadline.
“These qualities complement her strong writing and editing skills. We are lucky to have her in this leadership role.”
Boldizar is an active member of SFU’s Student Government Association. She served as the Commuter Senator for SGA last year before being elected to the role of Parliamentarian last fall. She assumed this role at the start of the spring semester.
A native of Gallitzin and graduate of Penn Cambria High School, Boldizar serves as president of SFU’s Spanish Club. She has volunteered as a translator each of the last two years on “Mission-of-Mercy” trips to Pittsburgh.
Mission of Mercy provides free dental, vision and hearing services to thousands of people in need across the western Pennsylvania region.
Boldizar is also active with the Communications Club and serves a work-study employee in the University’s Center for Academic Success.
