The Pittsburgh Steelers finished their season 10-8, making another playoff appearance.
Unfortunately, they also made another first-round exit from the NFL postseason, failing to score a touchdown in a 30-6 home loss to the Texans.
The Steelers organization announced on Jan. 13 that longtime head coach Mike Tomlin would be stepping down as head coach.
Tomlin served as head coach of the franchise for 19 years. He led the Black and Gold to a Super Bowl victory (2009) and never had a losing season, despite not winning a playoff game since 2016.
It saddens me to see Tomlin leave the team after growing up and watching him lead the Steelers for as long as I can remember.
However, throughout this season, there was a constant inconsistency with the offense, especially along the offensive line. Something must be done to address the team’s deficiencies on this side of the ball.
At the wide receiver position, we clearly need more depth. The Steelers quarterback situation also remain up in the air, just as it has been since Ben Roethlisberger retired in 2022.
The QB situation must be figured out if Pittsburgh is going to win in the postseason.
Now, with the announcement that Tomlin is stepping down, the organization also needs to find its new leader.
There are plenty of issues for the Rooneys to address this offseason. Pittsburgh fans are hoping that these decisions lead to more than another first-round playoff exit next season.
