The men’s basketball team lost to Temple, 95-67, on Dec. 14.
SFU’s leading scorer, Skylar Wicks, had 22 points and six rebounds to lead SFU in both these categories. It marked the fourth time that Wicks has scored at least 20 points this season.
In the second half, Wicks led SFU on a 16-5 run – scoring 11 points in the rally – but it wasn’t enough to catch the Owls (6-5).
Derrian Ford led Temple with 24 points. He made 8 of 15 shots from the floor. The Owls shot 60 percent (34-for-57) from the field, compared to 43 percent (26-for-61) for SFU.
SFU senior Zion Russell scored 14 points and distributed a career-high seven assists. Russell reached double figures for the seventh time this season for the Red Flash (2-9).
Havertown, Pennsylvania native Gestin Liberis – who grew up just outside of Philadelphia – posted eight points, six rebounds and three blocks.
It marked the sixth consecutive game that Liberis has grabbed at least five boards.
Saint Francis will travel to Gainesville, Florida, to take on defending national champion Florida on Dec. 17. The game tips off at 6:30 p.m. and will be televised on the SEC Network.
