The Fine Arts Program is hosting a production of “The Odd Couple (Female Version)” in the Resinski Black Box Theatre.
Performances are scheduled for Nov. 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and on Nov. 23 at 2 p.m.
The show focuses on the tumultuous and humorous relationships between six women as they cope with divorce, new living situations and their own self-perceptions.
“This show focuses on how people show up for each other,” said Associate Professor of Theater April Beiswenger, who is directing the show. “It is a slice of real life.”
Beiswenger joined the University’s Fine Arts faculty this fall. She is a graduate of Saint Francis.
“April’s refreshing perspective to the theatrical challenges us to venture outside our comfort zone,” said Elizabeth “Mae” Schmidt, who plays Mickey in the show.
The play will showcase the talents of several SFU students, including Tessa Paluzzi and Andrew Sill.
“SFU theatre has had a major impact on me,” said Paluzzi, who plays the role of Olive in The Odd Couple. “I am so grateful to be involved in something that I am passionate about with people that I love.
“Each show that I have done reminds me of why I love to perform.”
Sill, who plays Manolo in this year’s show, has also been involved with the University’s theatrical performances in the past.
“I’ve done theatre my entire time at SFU and have enjoyed every second of it,” he said.
