Saint Francis will host the Pennsylvania Communication Association’s 85th annual conference on Sept. 26-27 in Schwab Hall.
“We’re really excited to have it here at Saint Francis,” said Assistant Professor of Marketing Kim Flanders, who also serves as vice president of the PCA.
“We always have a great group of speakers and all of our sessions are usually well-attended,” said Flanders. “We’re particularly excited that Nick Ruffner will be our keynote speaker this year.”
Ruffner serves as the Public Affairs Manager at Sheetz and will deliver the keynote address on Sept. 27. He has taught at SFU in the past as an adjunct faculty member in the Communications Program.
Several SFU students and faculty will also present at this year’s conference, including Associate Professor of Communications Kelly Rhodes.
Rhodes will be discussing social media. She teaches a course at SFU titled “Social Media Strategies” and her presentation will provide other educators insight on how to create a similar course at their universities.
Rhodes will discuss the strategies behind social media during her presentation, and how companies, businesses and other organizations are using it in the digital age.
“If you work in Marketing or Communications or anything under the business umbrella, social media is going to be relevant to you,” said Rhodes.
The second day of the conference includes a graduate fair and poster session.
