The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Lock Haven Invitational on Sept. 23. Fourteen SFU women and four men ran at the event.
The women placed 13th in the Crimson 6K Race with 399 points and seventh in the White 6K Race with 255 points. The team’s top seven runners ran in the Crimson Race.
Senior Monica Gregg was the first SFU runner to cross the line in this race, finishing 37th with a time of 22:16.
“I was very excited going into the meet,” said Gregg, a Henrietta, New York native. “I knew we all had been putting in a lot of hard work during practice. The weather was perfect and the course was flat, so I was anticipating a great race.”
Four men competed in the Crimson 8K race. Aaron Tressler was the top finisher for SFU, followed by Thomas Presnar, Brady Reese and Jude Martyak.
While ineligible to score as a team with only five runners, senior Brady Reese believed the men’s team had a successful day overall.
“The conditions were not ideal, but we stuck with our plans and overall had good races with a few personal bests,” said Reese. “I’m looking forward to what we can do the rest of the season.”
The cross country teams will compete in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh this Saturday, Sept. 30.
“We’ve still got some improvements to make before the NEC Championships, but I can’t wait to see where the rest of the season takes us,” said Gregg.
