Dorsey Excited About Opportunity with Maulers
Former SFU offensive lineman Tre’Quan Dorsey was selected in the 2023 United States Football League Draft by the Pittsburgh Maulers in February.
The Maulers selected Dorsey in the third round with the 17th overall pick. He was the only Northeast Conference player selected in the 10-round draft.
“It feels like a blessing,” said the 2022 first-team All-Northeast Conference performer. “I get another chance to play with high competition to prove that I belong with the top guys.”
The Sterling, Virginia native played the last two seasons at Saint Francis after two seasons at Lackawanna Junior College, where he appeared in the NJCAA National Championship Game.
Last season, Dorsey helped lead the Flash to a 9-3 record and the school’s second NEC title.
Kesean Dyson is a junior linebacker on the SFU football squad and Dorsey’s cousin.
“With Tre getting the opportunity to play professional ball, it’s no surprise,” said Dyson.
“He has always put his full efforts toward becoming a better person each and every day and being the best he can be on the field and off.”
Dorsey was a member of a Red Flash offensive line that ranked 11th in the FCS with 1.08 sacks allowed per game. He started all 12 games at left tackle last fall.
The Maulers will open the 2023 season against the New Orleans Breakers in Birmingham, Alabama, on April 16 at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on FS1.
