Circle-of-Sisterhood Philanthropy Event a Success
Members of the Inter-Sorority Council (ISC) volunteered to raise money and awareness for their philanthropy, the Circle of Sisterhood, in Padua Hall from March 8-12.
“The Circle of Sisterhood is a foundation through which sorority women stand together to remove barriers to education for girls around the world,” said Valeria Zepeda Rivera, ISC Philanthropy Chair.
“The foundation provides support for grant awards programs and a school build program.”
Throughout the past week, sorority members from various chapters engaged with their fellow students in Padua, promoting awareness and accepting donations for this cause.
Each day during the week, the sorority sisters posed a new question pertaining to students’ experiences with education and/or the women in their lives to help them understand the importance of this initiative.
“This event is to spread awareness about education for females and (to help people understand) how, in other areas, females are not treated the same,” says ISC President Katherine McLaughlin.
“Circle of Sisterhood is for all of us to come together to promote female empowerment.”
ISC is comprised of two representatives from each chapter. These representatives have voting privileges, as do other sorority members who hold positions within the organization.
ISC’s goal is to create and encourage unity among sororities on campus.
