Intramural Sports Season Begins

Intramural Sports Season Begins

Fall intramural sports began on Sept. 15 and the dodgeball and soccer IM seasons are now underway.

Teams follow NCAA rules, some which have been modified. This usually involves shortening the playing time.

SFU offers three leagues: a co-ed league, a women’s league and a men’s league, but this is dependent upon the number of sign-ups.

This fall, dodgeball has replaced flag football as an IM sports offering.

The spring intramural schedule includes basketball and volleyball.

Stefphon Jefferson takes over as director of the intramural program this fall. He noted that dodgeball was added because it is more appealing to both male and female participants.

Surveys taken last semester also indicated that dodgeball would be well received by students.

“I look forward to the intramural soccer and volleyball every year,” said Gary Emrick, a two-time champ in the spring intramural volleyball league.”

Emrick is participating in soccer this fall with some fellow physical therapy classmates and several of his Sigma Chi Fraternity brothers.
