Irene Fritschy scored twice and Samantha Zeiders made six saves in her second straight shutout as the Saint Francis field hockey team blanked Colgate, 3-0, in Hamilton, New York, on Sunday.

The Red Flash controlled the game, outshooting the Raiders, 26-9, including 15-6 in shots on goal. SFU owned a 9-5 edge in penalty corners.

Saint Francis peppered Raider goalie Maria Krull with four shots in the first three minutes of play, but the match remained scoreless until the 27th minute. Following a Krull save off a Selena Adamshick penalty stroke, Shannon Pereira found Fritschy for her first goal of the day.

In the second half, the Flash took advantage of a yellow card issued to Colgate. Adamshick found the back of the net in the 49th minute for her eighth goal of the season, giving the Flash a 2-0 lead. Six minutes later, Fritschy struck again.

The win evens Saint Francis’ record at 3-3 on the season.  The team returns home next Sunday, hosting Rider at 1 p.m.
