Former Red Flash football player E.J. Jenkins won a Super Bowl ring two weeks ago when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.
Jenkins was in on 25 total plays in the Super Bowl earlier this month. He played in 12 games for the Eagles during their championship season (eight in the regular season and four in the playoffs).
Jenkins played at SFU for two seasons (2018-19), catching 44 passes for 831 yards. He earned All-Northeast Conference honors in 2019 when he averaged 20.0 yards-per-catch on 39 receptions and set a school record with 13 TD catches.
The Fredericksburg, Virginia native played single seasons of college football at South Carolina (2021) and Georgia Tech (2022) before signing with the New York Jets as a free agent in 2023. He was a member of the Eagles and Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squads in 2023 before earning a spot on Philadelphia’s roster this season.
Jenkins played wider receiver in college before moving to tight end in the NFL. He caught his first NFL touchdown pass on Jan. 5 in the Eagles’ 20-13 win over the New York Giants.
He becomes the second former SFU student to play on a Super Bowl winning team. London Fletcher played basketball at Saint Francis in the 1993-94 season before transferring to John Carroll where he played both basketball and football. Fletcher played in the NFL for three different teams from 1998-2013 and won a Super Bowl with the St. Louis Rams in 1999.
