Fine Arts Assistant Professor Jess Campbell had two pieces of her artwork accepted for display in Seton Hill University’s Harlan Gallery “Women in Art” Exhibition.
Her encaustic works “Another Night Alone” and “A Simple Conversation” were selected for inclusion in the exhibit.
“Both of these paintings have different qualities,” said Campbell. “There are lots of components to them.”
In preparation for the exhibition and to learn about encaustic artwork, Campbell attended a week-long workshop during the summer.
“Encaustics is now one of my favorite types of art,” she said. “This was all new to me.”
Encaustic painting is a technique where colored pigments are mixed with hot liquid wax.
The exhibition will run at Seton Hill from Oct. 19 to Nov. 17.
Jurying for the exhibition was conducted by a group of students enrolled in a Women in Art course at Seton Hill. The work of 52 different women artists will be on display.
