After 29 years of dedicated service in the Athletics Department as the school’s ticket manager and administrative assistant, Margie McHenry retired from the University on Sept. 3.

The school hosted a farewell reception for her on Sept. 1 and University President Fr. Malachi Van Tassell presented her with a retirement gift at the event.

As ticket manager, McHenry managed all ticket inventories and sales, schedules, strategic planning, communications and customer service. She also supervised ticket office staff, focusing on sales and operations.

Margie’s warmth and kindness were obvious to all of those who interacted with her over the last three decades.

“She is a great role model,” said Alexandra Chismar, an assistant athletics trainer. “Everyone respected her and she greeted everyone with a smile.”

Noted Lauren Harris on a Facebook post celebrating McHenry’s retirement: “You were the first smile to hundreds of my days at Saint Francis … This lady is the reason Saint Francis felt like home to so many people.”

McHenry demonstrated the school’s values each day in the Stokes Center, serving as a positive example to thousands of students during her time on the Athletics staff.

“She always made me feel at home from when I first got to Saint Francis University five years ago,” said field hockey coach Betta Ceretta.
