The Blair County Conservation District is teaming up with Saint Francis to sponsor a billboard campaign to create awareness of, and promote water conservation in, neighboring Blair County.

“The Intergovernmental Stormwater Committee’s main goal is to educate and communicate to the public about storm-water pollution,” said Chelsey Ergler, stormwater coordinator for the Blair County Conservation District.

Below are the requirements for billboard competition submissions:

  • File must be saved as a JPEG and PDF;
  • Individual images used in design need to be saved as JPEG or PNG files;
  • Fish cannot be the main focus of the design;
  • The CleanBlairWater.org website (https://www.cleanblairwater.org/) must be a part of the design.

“After learning of a similar case study competition at Florida Tech University last month during a virtual program review of its business school, I saw the positive effect it had on student learning and decided that this semester was the ideal time to launch (this initiative),” said Randy Frye, Dean of the Shields School of Business.

The first-place finisher will receive $300. There are also cash prizes for second ($150) and third place ($100).

“As with any good marketing slogan of design, we want something that will capture the attention of the audience quickly, while delivering a message that will stick with them or inspire enough curiosity that they will want to find out more information,” said Ergler.

“The winning entry could end up on billboards all over Blair County,” said Frye.

Deadline for entries into the competition is Feb. 15. Entries can be submitted at https://forms.gle/mFGeRAPrDt6gxvLx5.
