The football team added 17 players to its 2020 roster on Feb. 5 – National Signing Day – bringing the total number of program recruits to 21.

The Red Flash added nine players on the offensive side of the ball and 12 on defense.

The incoming class includes center Louis Mihota, who transfers to SFU from Virginia Tech and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Offensive tackle Tre’Quan Dorsey, running back Marques DeShields and tight end Sameer Parks are also transfers. All three come to Loretto from Lackawanna Junior College.

“We want these guys to be leaders in and out of the classroom,” said head football coach Chris Villarrial. “We want to give them the best experience playing at the highest level, while turning them into better men when they graduate.

“I feel that the guys we have brought in have given us a lot of depth. We have truly upgraded our roster.”

The Red Flash coaches believe that they have added a lot of talent to the defensive side of the ball, talent that defensive coordinator Bishop Neal believes will help the team immediately.

“We recruited high-character young men that are also really talented football players,” said Neal. “I’m excited to see how competitive the new guys are.

“The sky’s the limit for them.”
