Red Flash season tip-off ends in defeat

As the Red Flash comes back from California, they are now 0-2. Red Flash Men’s Basketball fought against a hard two teams from the West Coast Conference. November 11, they matched up against one of the top 25 teams in the county, Saint Mary’s from Moraga, California. Tip-off was at 5pm, and Red Flash made the first move by scoring in transition and getting numerous fast breaks to keep up with Saint Mary’s. Until halftime, Saint Francis hung around with Saint Mary’s. Unfortunately, they lost their season opener 68-85.  Last year, Saint Mary’s had several men play professionally after their season ended in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

On Monday, November 13, Saint Francis had one more chance to leave California with a win. They matched up against West Coast Conference team University of San Francisco, who was ranked #3 in their preseason poll this year. Tip-off Monday night was at 7pm. As soon as the game started, the Red Flash men silenced the gym with several threes and transitions buckets. After San Francisco finally adjusted to Red Flash’s offense, the lead bounced back and forth. Unfortunately, late in the second half, San Francisco started to pull away with a few defensive stops that led to transition buckets. San Francisco took the game over Red Flash men, losing 63-75. Red Flash hopes to bounce back this coming Saturday in Virginia against Longwood University.
