Sorority raises more than $1,000 for special needs camp
The Phi Lambda Psi sorority raised $1,100 for the organization Dreams Go On during their ninth annual spaghetti dinner on March 27.
The sisters of the sorority sold 133 meal tickets. The food served at the event was donated by DelGrosso Foods.
Dreams Go On is a horseback-riding camp in Hollidaysburg for children with special needs. Participants receive therapy while spending time with the camp’s horses.
“I’m really proud of everyone for pulling together and helping pull off an amazing event,” said Phi Lamda Psi philanthropy chair Bethany Miller.
More than 25 donated baskets and gift cards were raffled off at the conclusion of the event.
Miller was pleased with the turnout and said that the addition of a credit-card reader drew in more guests.
The sisters are proud of each other for their hard work, even though they fell just short of their $1,250 goal.
“The best part about working here was definitely spending time with my sisters and seeing how many awesome people showed up for this event,” said first-year sorority member Amanda Ferguson.
